Gituro Wainaina

I am a PhD holder in Agricultural Economics, Master in Business Administration, Bachelor of Education and Associate Professor of Business Analytics in the School of Business University of Nairobi.  I have extensive working experience with University of Nairobi where I am an Associate Professor; Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat where I was Acting Director General as well as Director for Social and Political Pillars; World Bank where I was a Senior Education Economist; CARE International in Kenya where I was Regional Coordinator; and University of Nairobi Enterprises and Services Limited, where I was Deputy Managing Director and Business Development Manager.  Besides, I have a long-standing resilient partnership and working relationship with governments in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethipia, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Ghana, and Nigeria as well as with organizations such as UNDP, WFP, UNICEF, World Bank, African Development Bank, DfID, and Council of Governors.

Presently, I am the Chairman of Kenya School of Government Council; member Uwezo Sasa Kenya National Advisory Committee; council member of Management University of Africa; member of Board of Trustees for Kiambui Institute of Science and Technology; board member of Centre for Innovative Leadership and Governance; and advisor Innovations for Poverty Action; 

My passion include provision of sufficient nutritional food; water harvesting and management; mainstreaming youth leadership and entrepreneurship; provision of inclusive quality lifelong learning and above all believing, practicing and championing integrity together with ‘Ubuntu’.

Prof. John Mburu

Prof. John Mburu is an Agricultural Economist and an Associate Professor at the Department of Agricultural Economics, University of Nairobi, Kenya. He holds a Ph.D and Masters degree in Agricultural Economics from University of Goettingen, Germany, following a first degree in Bsc in Agriculture from University of Nairobi.

Over the last 25 years, Prof Mburu has gained useful expertise in applying the concepts of cost-benefit analysis, New Institutional Economics (NIE) and Sustainable Livelihoods Framework (SLF) in applied research on trade, agriculture and management of natural resources.

He has published widely on agriculture and environment, including economics of utilization and management of forests, wildlife and agro-biodiversity in developing countries. He is an associate partner of Resource Mobilization and Policy Analysis Institute (REMPAI) consultancy firm in Kenya.

Prof. X N Iraki

Prof. X N Iraki is an associate professor at the University  of Nairobi Faculty of Business & Management Sciences.. He previously taught at Kentucky State University In USA  and Strathmore Business School.  

In addition he is a columnist with Kenya’s oldest newspaper, The Standard.  His teaching and research interests include research methods , business economics, innovations &  technology management, and Sinology.  

He also previously worked as a researcher with the government of Kenya's think tank, the national economic and social council( NESC).

He holds a PhD( Jackson, USA), MBA (University of Nairobi), MEd & BEd( Kenyatta University ) and a certificate in global journalism from the University of Toronto, Canada. Beyond academia, Iraki is an ardent golfer, a mountain climber, and a space science enthusiast. He is also much sought after certified dowry negotiator in East Africa.

Dr. Lester Brian Shawa

Dr. Lester Brian Shawa is the Regional Education Coordinator for the Logistics Education (LEED) programme of the Kühne Foundation.  Holding a PhD from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, a Master of Education (Policy Studies) from Stellenbosch University and a Master of Social Science in Development Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, he is an expert in Higher Education Studies and International Development in the tradition of [post] Critical Theory. 

Based in Nairobi, Kenya, he coordinates Logistics and Supply Chain Education capacity building in a number of universities in Sub-Saharan Africa. Further, Dr Shawa is part of a team that coordinates activities for the DAAD African Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Operations for Resource Management and Food Supply jointly run by the University of Nairobi (Kenya), the University of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) and the Kühne Logistics University (Germany).

He provides curricula leadership and reviews Logistics and Supply Chain curricula in sub-Saharan African universities – quality assuring the programmes and aligning them to international comparability and standards. He holds an honorary Seniorship in Higher Education Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, where he lectured for several years.

Dr. Daniel Zapata

Dr. Daniel Zapata works as a Global Program Manager at Kühne Foundation (Switzerland), and as an adjunct lecturer at Leuphana University and The German Foreign Trade and Transport Academy (Germany).

He is actively engaged and vocationally oriented towards sustainability, entrepreneurship and innovation, supply chain management, and empowerment and gender equality in developing countries. Daniel holds a PhD in Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Developing Countries from Leuphana University (Germany), and a PhD in HR Psychology from the University of Valencia (Spain).

He has been working on international development initiatives in more than a dozen of countries in Latin America, Africa, and Asia (currently focusing on East Africa, and South East Asia).

Recently, his work as a consultant at the World Bank, earned him the Vice President Unit Team Award for “Innovating to Promote Female Entrepreneurship in Mexico”. When “out of duty”, Daniel enjoys climbing, running, travelling, and engagement in social entrepreneurship activities.

Prof. Ulingeta Mbamba

Prof. Ulingeta Obadia Lebson Nasobile Mbamba PhD (Dar), Lic. (Umea), MBA (Nairobi), BSc (Eng) (Dar)is Associate Professor, Department of General Management at the University of Dar es Salaam. Tanzania. He has researched on operations research issues and information systems focusing on small and medium enterprises.
